Playwall - Support
Questions, bugs, or ideas. Mail me and I read every one.
Playwall has no account, so there is nothing for me to look up on your behalf. Your library lives on your own devices and in your own iCloud. Whatever you can tell me in the mail is what I have to work with.
Before you write
Tell me what you were doing. Which screen you were on, what you tapped, what you expected, what happened instead. A screenshot or a screen recording is worth a lot.
Include your iPhone or iPad model and iOS version. Both are in Settings → General → About. Bugs are often specific to one combination.
If a game is wrong, name it. Playwall gets game titles, covers, and details from IGDB. If a cover is missing or a detail looks off, tell me the exact game and what’s wrong, and I can chase it upstream.
Common questions
How do I add a game?
Search for it, or add it straight from your wall. A game you own lands sharp; a game you’re only eyeing lands dimmed as a wishlist. One tap moves it between the two. There are no folders and no lists to keep tidy, because the wall is the list.
Where do the covers and game details come from?
From IGDB, a video-game database. Playwall looks games up there when you search and pulls the cover and details. If something’s missing or wrong, it’s usually an IGDB data gap. Mail me the game and I’ll look.
What does “Tonight” do?
It names one game worth starting tonight instead of handing you a ranked list to read through. It’s there to end the “what do I even play” scroll, not to add another list.
How do I log that I played?
One tap. After you play, mark the session, with no timer and no diary entry. Finish a game and Playwall asks two quick questions, and that finish becomes a star in your galaxy.
Is my library backed up? Will it move to my new phone?
Yes. Playwall stores your library on your device and syncs it privately through your own iCloud account, using the same Apple ID signed into your devices. That means it shows up on your iPad too, and it comes back when you set up a new phone signed into the same Apple ID. Make sure iCloud Drive is on for Playwall in Settings → [your name] → iCloud.
My library isn’t showing up on my other device
Check that both devices are signed into the same Apple ID, that iCloud is on for Playwall on both, and that they have a network connection. iCloud sync can take a few minutes to settle, especially on first launch.
What do the support tiers unlock?
Everything that matters is free forever: capturing, logging, rating, the galaxy, the year-end receipt. The three tiers (Supporter, Night Owl, and Patron) are a way to support the person who makes Playwall. They unlock only cosmetics, like wall themes and a gold galaxy. The higher tiers are a bigger gift, not a bigger app.
I paid but Playwall still says I haven’t
Open the support screen and tap Restore Purchases. Your purchase is tied to your Apple Account, so it restores on any device signed into the same one.
If it still doesn’t appear, mail me with the Apple Account email used for the purchase.
How do I cancel or manage a subscription?
Only the annual Supporter tier renews; Night Owl and Patron are one-time purchases with nothing to cancel. Manage or cancel the subscription in your Apple Account settings (Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions). Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
How do I remove a game, or delete everything?
Remove a single game from its detail screen. To remove your whole library, delete the games and then delete the app; because your library syncs to iCloud, also remove Playwall’s iCloud data in Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage. There is no server of mine holding a copy.
